CASANUOVA
HOLIDAY HOUSE AT THE SEASIDE ON THE TUSCAN COAST IN ITALY
My "Casa Nuova"
is a large converted farmhouse (400 square meters) surrounded by a fenced
garden, inside a vast wheat and sunflower farm, 800 meters from the farm centre,
in the so called Rimigliano Natural Park, between San Vincenzo and Piombino, in
front of the Elba Island. It sleeps 9 adults plus two baby cots available, it is
ideal for children.
I am Swiss but the property was purchased in 1860 by my
English great-grandfather. It is 2 Km away from the famous Baratti Gulf with its
Etruscan archeologic area of Populonia which has the finest beach in the area.
In Baratti also the best fish restaurants in the area: Canessa, La Pergola,
Demos. Lovely little medieval cities are on the hilltops of surrounding
mountains. In San Vincenzo many bars,discoteque,pizzerias, amusement park, also
one of the best restaurants in Italy the Gambero Rosso (expensive). San Vincenzo
has a charming pleasure boat marina with coffee shops etc. Boats can be rented
in Baratti, where you have also a sailing school.
At 800 meters from the
house, when it is open (from end April to beginning of September), Guests have
free access to the new commercial centre of a Tourist Village. It is under a century old pine wood and you will find there Bar,
Pizzeria, Restaurant, Supermarket, Tobacconist, Newspaper stand, etc. Guests
have free access also to the village parking lot which is under
another pine wood bordering the same village's private beach.
CASA
NUOVA has been restored respecting the style of old Tuscan farm houses, it
is richly furnished with both antique, old and modern furniture, and is
generously equipped. From Casa Nuova you can only see fields and pine woods, no
buildings nor houses (except the one belonging to the housekeeper which is 300
meters away). The result has been a house with a very particular charm and
comfort.
GROUND FLOOR: The stable has been turned into a ventilated
patio room with garden furniture and chaise-longues; a king size bedroom, a
bathroom (tub & shower); a lavatory and a large dining room which opens onto
the garden.
FIRST FLOOR: A large sitting room with a brick fireplace;
all ceilings with old wooden beams; a kitchen with dining table; a master
bedroom with bathroom with shower); another 2 twin bedrooms; one single bedroom;
a third independent bathroom (tub & shower). In all, Casa Nuova sleeps 9 + 2
children, has 3 bathrooms, a kitchen with a large table.
GARDEN:
Illuminated at night and fenced; a pergola of grape vines with picnic table and
barbecue around an old well; a shaded area with garden furniture; ping pong
table with lighting; pine trees, eucaliptus, palm trees and
flowers.
ACCESS: A private iron gate on the asphalt road followed by a
narrow shaded alley to the house.
HOUSEKEEPER: A very kind and
efficient Theresa comes every morning (except Sundays) for 3 hours to clean up,
make all beds, wash dishes, etc. Upon arrangement she can work extra hours
cooking Tuscan food, for example.
OTHER: Included are electricity,
drinking water, gas bottles for cooking range, linen and towels changed every
saturday , umbrellas for the beach, dogs are very welcome … A pamphlet of mine
and a Guest Book give instructions, advice on places to visit, comments, etc.
Remember to arrive with some food supplies. You will need a
car.
PERIODS AND PRICES: usually guests come for a full week or
more, from Saturday to Saturday. Rates are in Euro. For prices please contact

Extras: they are all included in the price, except winter electric heating that is measured at the electricity counter and paid by the meter.

The
housekeeper of Casa Nuova Teresa Monelli awaits Guests' arrival on Saturdays
between 5 and 7.30 pm at her house, her telephone 0565 846473 , cell
: + 39 3405561336 she shows Casa Nuova to guests and gives them the
keys.
HOW TO GET THERE: Take the
Livorno-Rome auto-route, exit at SAN VINCENZO, proceed in the direction of
Piombino along the sea down the Via Della Principessa which runs along the coast
under pine trees and through woods, after 7 Km at a crossing marked "Park
Albatros" and "Ristorante Mulinaccio" turn left, go all along the pinewood,
beyond Restaurant and Park, you will then see in front of you the iron gate and
on the left Theresa's house where she will be waiting for
you.
